While staying in the area we called in to the Black Horse, what a good atmosphere, friendly bar staff who looked after us very well. By the end of the week we had our own table booked for us every evening. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and well fed.

Fell upon this place whilst on holiday, and very glad we did. Very quiet Tuesday lunch time here. Had given up on Hastings where it was impossible to get a parking space. Traditional pub lunch menu done really well. Clearly cooked to order, as we had a fairly long wait even though we were one of three tables in play. I had liver & bacon (one of my favourites), and this was excellent in terms of quality & quantity. Service was friendly and attentive.

The Black Horse is a real gem! We selected this pub as it was close to the venue for a family wedding the next day. There were 9 of us dining, so quite a divergence in choice of food requirements. We didn't need to worry as there was more than enough choice to suit all. The place is unpretentious and serves good quality food, piping hot and with a smile. Without exception, everyone was delighted with their meal. Thanks to Chrissie and her staff for giving us a lovely evening.

Review us on TripAdvisorWe have been going to The Black Horse for 3/4 years now when we stay with my mother in Battle. The quality of the food and the cooking are consistently good, with generous portions of piping hot food including individual dishes of fresh vegetables. We always look forward to eating here - my husband's favourite is the homemade steak and kidney pudding. Most pubs serve pies these days so the pudding is a real treat for him!
